In a statement issued on 9 November 2021, the Bar Human Rights Committee of England and Wales notes that it has “been following [Alaa’s] case with serious concern over many years and consider that his case is emblematic of the profound crisis in respect for the rule of law and fundamental human rights in Egypt.””.. these individual cases, [Alaa, Baqer & Oxygen] .. are illustrative of a pattern of continued contempt for fundamental rights.””a striking failure to have any regard for due process, or even the appearance of due process, heightened by the lack of any available appeal.”
